“There is always room for a story that can transport people to another place.” - J.K. Rowling
“As I see it, a successful story of any kind should be almost like hypnosis: you fascinate the reader with your first sentence, draw them further with your second sentence, and have them in a mild trance by the third.” - Alan Moore
Following storytelling examples as penned by world-renowned writer Neil Gaiman, this course will explore the process of giving your imagination wings, of developing a story-line, building new worlds, and over the course of the year, go from your first draft to a final published book! Students will also learn how to flesh out characters and conquer writer’s block.
• Students will be expected to read and write outside of the classroom!
• Students will need o be mindful of deadlines so that the book can be completed in time to be published.
• Artwork, drawings, and photos from other classes can be added as illustrations to the book but it is up to the student to provide digital copies of what they would like included in their book.
• Students will need to take both fall and spring sessions to complete their book.
